CTC Coventry & CTC Rugby rides for the week beginning Sunday 9th June 2019

  • The Triennial Veteran’s 100-mile ride was a great success last weekend, thanks to a wonderful bunch of bakers, to the teams running the refreshment stations, to the team checking in riders and sending them off in groups, to the photographers and the standby sag wagon, which was not needed thankfully. All the riders were challenged to a greater, or lesser extent, but aged from 51 to 78 they all made it back to Binley Woods. Have a look at an initial selection photographs..
  • The Sardinia tour was also great success thanks to Mike Thomas’s first class planning and running of the tour. Have a look at a brief report and a selection of photos

CTC Coventry Tuesday 11th June

  • Slightly different from usual: The plan is to take the train to Northampton and cycle back from there.
  • Meet in the cafe at Northampton Station. West Midland Trains leave Coventry Station at 09.25 09.47 and 10.01 and the journey takes approx. 30 minutes. There’s no need to book bikes onto the train; just look out for the carriage for the disabled where there’s usually space for up to 6 cycles.
  • We will leave the cafe at 11.00 and initially follow the NCN Route 6 along the Brampton Valley disused railway line as far as Brixworth. From here we head westwards to The Old Kings Head at Long Buckby where we will have lunch having cycled 15 miles.
  • The route then continues westwards through Ashby St Ledgers, Willoughby, Birdingbury, and Weston-under-Wetherly. The ride ends at the Stoneleigh for an optional tea at the Farmers Fayre at a distance of 43 miles.
  • From here we can go our own way home…
