Triple Centenary Day

2021 marks not only the hundredth year of our club but also the centenaries of both the Coventry War Memorial and the National Cyclists Memorial at Meriden

So on the 16th May 2021 rather than a normal Sunday ride we will make this a special occasion in three ways:

Firstly we will gather as usual at 9.15 at the Park and Ride Bus Stop and from there we will cycle on gently to the Cenotaph.  There will be stewards on hand to guide you. We will join with the ‘Friends of the Park’ group to lay a wreath there, similar to the one to be laid at Meriden, and take a quick photo opportunity.

All our members, Local groups and riders are welcome to join us.

Secondly, after the ceremony we will do a special ride to Meriden where we expect to meet with many cyclists from all over the country to remember all cyclists lost in two World Wars . This event will be publicised nationally.  There will be an opportunity to join the Meriden service.

A visit to the War Memorials of Ypres and Tyne Cot ...

Thirdly after a quick cup of tea at Meriden Church hall we will ride on to Fillongley re-tracing the very first ride of CTC Coventry 100 years ago.

Organisers – Bob Tinley and Dave Hearn

We would love to know if you have plans to take part in all or part of this wonderful day, so please let either Bob or Dave know.

…. Then as a follow-on additional event after Triple Centenary Day rides there is an opportunity to attend  the Special Birthday BBQ at the Village Hall
