UPDATING THE ROUTES LIBRARY
All the data currently on the system in stored in gpx.coventryctc.org.uk with the file name yyyymmdd.gpx. The only exception is when we have long ride and short ride gpx files when the files are called yyyymmddL.gpx and yyyymmddS.gpx.
Week by week as the gpx files roll in I upload them to gpx.coventryctc.org.uk, so the record is always up-to-date. It was easy for me to structure the tables with their current structure because the files are all stored on my PC with the names yyyymmdd stop1-stop2-stop3.gpx where stop2 and stop3 may not be present according to there being 1, 2, or 3 stops on the ride. I can then produce an import file from a file listing off my PC – an extra edit could split up stop1, 2 and 3 into separate columns if that is required. This means that the destinations of the gpx files can seen immediately from their file name, otherwise they need to be opened up to check their destinations.
